- Have a regular schedule to sleep. Go to bed and get up from there at the same time regularly, everyday. Don't make a habit of taking frequent naps, especially after 3:00 o'clock in the afternoon.
- Do not take too much, if you cannot avoid, stimulating substances such as nicotine, alcohol and caffeine.
- Have a regular exercise and stay alert and active during the day, but exercising when you are about to sleep is not advised.
- Always have your bedroom set to an ambiance of a sanctuary: cool, dark, quiet and comfortable.
- Doing things in bed, like watching television, doing your work or homework, or eating in bed is not a good practice when you want to have a good night rest.
- When you don't fall asleep as quickly as you want, don't force yourself. Get up and out of your bed and play some soft music you can listen to, have a relaxing bath, or read your favorite book until you fell tired and sleepy.
- Have conflicts of the day resolved before bedtime.
- Trying to catch up sleep later during weekends wont' work either.
- If needed, go and seek the advice of your physician if you ever experience symptoms of sleep apnea.
- Use of sleeping pills are not really advice.
Have a good night rest!
